VIRTUAL PELVIC HEALTH FROM THE EASE & COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME

find safety within your body to create the life you desire

SELF CARE RITUALS PROGRAM

THE SELF CARE RITUALS PROGRAM IS A UNIQUE APPROACH TO VIRTUAL PELVIC FLOOR THERAPY, FOCUSING INITIALLY ON NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION AND RETRAINING TO PREPARE THE MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT FOR SAFETY AND HEALING.

THIS PROGRAM UTILIZES AN EVIDENCE BASED PROTOCOL CALLED THE SAFE AND SOUND PROTOCOL (SSP), WHICH IS A 5 HOUR LISTENING THERAPY DIVIDED INTO MULTIPLE ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS WITH THE THERAPIST TO INCREASE YOUR PERSONAL UNDERSTANDING OF SAFETY WITHIN THE BODY.

THE MUSIC OF THE SSP IS DESIGNED TO STIMULATE THE VAGUS NERVE, WHICH CAN HELP TO CALM THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, IMPROVE BRAIN-BODY CONNECTION AND PROMOTE A FELT SENSE OF SAFETY AND WELL-BEING.

WHEN THE BODY FEELS SAFE, IT’S READY TO INTEGRATE PELVIC HEALTH INTERVENTIONS WITH EASE AND COMFORT, ALL AT YOUR OWN PACE.

THIS PROGRAM IS FOR WOMEN WHO STRUGGLE WITH..

Menstrual Pain:

Learning how our cycles fluctuate throughout the month can be our superpower! Tuning in to the changes mentally, emotionally, and physically can help us structure our monthly activities to work best with our cycles.

Bladder Issues:

Leaking, frequency, urges, and spasms are common bladder symptoms treated by pelvic floor therapy.

Pelvic Pressure & Pain:

Understanding and addressing our nervous system is key when working with persistent pain and other pelvic discomforts like heaviness and pressure. Our body can hold tension in various parts of our body which can contribute to muscle imbalances in our pelvis. This is common in women with Endometriosis and Vaginismus. Or maybe you have a Pelvic Organ Prolapse and are constantly worrying about the changes to your body. Many women struggle with anxiety and depression due to the long term struggles of pelvic floor dysfunction. You’re not alone. We can help.

Pregnancy and Postpartum:

Pelvic floor occupational therapy can help identify coping skills while adjusting to changes to your body and new routines. Our therapist has additional training in Perinatal Mood Disorders to address any mental health concerns like postpartum depression. In addition to emotional regulation and nervous system health, We can focus on posture to improve back pain, strengthening for leakage & core stability, encourage safe/active lifestyles plus much more before, during, and after childbirth. Virtual pelvic floor occupational therapy is beneficial for moms due to busy schedules, transportation and childcare challenges

Difficulty with Self Care Routines:

Does your pelvic floor dysfunction affect your sleep, toileting, bathing, leisure and work related activities? As an Occupational Therapist, I prioritize these daily activities because they are essential to living a fulfilling life.

Perimenopause & Menopause:

Do you want to get a jump start and prepare for Peri/Menopause or are you already having irregular periods, hot flashes, vaginal dryness and feel menopause is right around the corner? This program is for you to prioritize stress management strategies and embrace the changes occurring in your body.

Proactive Pelvic Health:

What if you understood your body’s stress response, proper breathing techniques, menstrual health and ways to help leakage or pelvic pain during preconception?

Colorectal Conditions:

Constipation, IBS, Hemorrhoids (to name a few) can be addressed from a holistic lens: addressing your daily habits and nervous system to get to the root cause of your symptoms. If our body is in a persistent stressful state, it cannot run efficiently.

Pelvic Floor Connection:

Do you have trouble “feeling” your pelvic floor muscles? You’re not alone! Most women have not been taught the correct way to contract (kegel) and relax their pelvic floor. Coordination of these muscles is so important for a healthy bladder, bowel, and intimacy!

Retirement Routines:

Many women are excited for retirement: finally being in charge of your routine and schedule without running out the door for work. You have the time to prioritize your own health: create lasting routines to address any mental health or pelvic health concerns to achieve your retirement goals.

Anxiety & Depression

At Occupelvic Health, we feel very strongly about working towards diminishing the stigma around mental health concerns. Our evidence based approach will help you feel safe within your body and mind to create lasting routines to reach your goals.

Create The Life You Desire.

Create The Life You Desire.

The Self Care Rituals Program is unlike any other. You will participate in 4 phases to achieve your goals through an individualized Holistic Pelvic Health Framework. This Framework is extremely thorough to address your mind, body, and spirit to create the life you desire.

Phase 1 is Goal Setting. Your functional goals are always at the forefront of this program. What goals will make your life more meaningful? What’s holding you back from achieving them?

The biggest concept is that there is no rush. This program is at your own pace.

Phase 3 is integrating what you have learned about yourself and your body into your daily habits and routines. Implementing strategies for a long-lasting meaningful lifestyle.

Phase 4 is reassessing your functional goals-you’ve made a lot of progress & learned so much about yourself and your body throughout this program -we are consistently refocusing on what YOU need and want to achieve to make your life more meaningful.

Testimonials

Karla was able to help me greatly improve my mobility. I’ve struggled with several different varieties of lower back and hip pain over the years. I’ve seen doctors and chiropractors and have made little progress. Karla listened to the types of issues I was facing and gave me simple things to do at home to help improve mobility and functionality. The progress I’ve made in such a short period of time has been very promising. I’m currently pregnant and she’s already provided insight on how to prepare myself for postnatal care.
— Danae, 33
Karla helped me to better understand pelvic floor function and breathing exercises to enhance my prenatal care. She is super responsive and willing to connect with me in incorporating more of my self care into everyday living. I felt I could trust her with discussing intimate questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Pelvic floor occupational therapy is a specialized area of occupational therapy that focuses on the evaluation and treatment of conditions related to the pelvic floor and the impact it has on your daily routines, habits, and roles (as a student, wife, friend, mother, etc). I specialize in how your daily occupations (self care routines, sleep, work, leisure, education, play, social participation, and health management) are impacted by your pelvic floor dysfunction. We work together to identify barriers you have to living a more fulfilling life and incorporate strategies to improve your pelvic health.

  • Occupelvic Health and Wellness offers cash based services. When you go through insurance for occupational therapy, the insurance company dictates the treatment plan. This means that your insurance company gets to determine what treatments you are and aren’t allowed to receive, how much time you are allowed to see me for each session, how may sessions you are allowed to have, and what symptoms/issues are allowed to be addressed. A cash-based model allows us to do what is best for you during your treatment without having to get approval from your insurance company. This means we can spend one-on-one time with you to:

    -address multiple problems at once

-You can choose your own goals

-We can schedule 60+ minute sessions to address your body holistically

  • 1 in 3 women will have some sort of pelvic floor dysfunction within their lifespan. It is much more common than you think–we can work together to:

—Address mental health concerns like depression and anxiety

—Address abdominal & pelvic floor strength

—Stop leaking urine when coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercising

—Control your bladder on the way to the bathroom and go less often

—Get control of distressing bowel symptoms such as urgency and constipation

    —Have pain-free intercourse

—Pregnancy and Postpartum: exercise routines to improve bladder/bowel issues, body mechanics, ergonomic setup in nursery, core strength, stress & pain management

—Difficulty connecting or “feeling”your pelvic floor muscles

    - & much more!

  • Prior to the Initial Evaluation, you will have booked a discovery call to see if this is a good fit. Once you sign up for the program, You will then receive paperwork and forms to fill out and information to download the Unyte App which has the listening therapy. It is recommended you purchase over the ear headphones for completion of the SSP. Ear Buds are not recommended. Once you fill out your paperwork and purchase your over the ear headphones, we can get started with your Initial Evaluation. It is recommended you have your laptop for the video call and your phone with the Unyte Listening App. We will go over your medical history and your journey and struggles you are facing and start Phase 1 to address your goals. The second half of the call is geared towards what is showing up for you the most-are your emotions and mental health causing you distress? Or do we need to take a physical approach and address your posture, breathing & pelvic health. Your paperwork will also help to guide this.

Based on the assessment findings, I will introduce specific strategies and exercises designed to meet your needs. This may include coping strategies, pelvic floor muscle training, breathing techniques, and body awareness practices. I will provide clear instructions and modifications as needed to ensure you are comfortable.

Throughout the session, I will encourage open communication, inviting you to share your feelings about your experience. It’s important that you feel at ease as we work together.

As the session concludes, we will discuss a home practice plan that you can follow between our visits. Depending on how your nervous system responds to the listening therapy, you may be able to listen at your own pace but this will be decided during the session. This plan will include personalized self care rituals and tips to help you integrate the techniques into your daily routine. Lastly, we will schedule the next session, ensuring continuity in your therapy.
